Scaling the World
As part of the Goethe Institute's ongoing discussion series, there will be a panel discussion on Tuesday, February 28 called 'Scaling the World: The Art of Reusing Urban Space.' The discussion will focus on two urban spaces, namely the Tacheles Project in Berlin and the Wychwood Car Barns in Toronto. Stefanie Schulz, an urban sociologist from Berlin, will report on Berlin's urban redevelopment and York University professors Jody Berland and Bob Hanke will discuss the plans for the Wychwood Car Barns in Toronto. Both of these urban renewal projects demonstrate the ways that architectural objects from the past are modified and incorporated into the modern urban landscape.
